Shared kitchens
Shared kitchens are experimental in this beta. Live updates between two Apple Accounts are to be tested during beta; they are not yet verified. Begin with a disposable kitchen and made-up recipes. Availability also depends on the released build's iCloud setup.
What is shared
A shared kitchen is intended to include its recipes and photos, meal plan, and shopping list. Shopping corrections, omissions and purchased checks belong to that kitchen too.
Cooking progress is personal to each device: your step, scaled cooking servings, ingredient checks and timers do not follow another cook. Creating or joining a kitchen does not move the recipes, photos, plan or shopping list from Local kitchen.
Start a small sharing test
Only do this after the beta coordinator confirms that sharing is enabled in your release and both people have approved access.
- Sign in to iCloud normally on each device. Never send anyone your password or verification code.
- Open Shared kitchens using the kitchen controls in Recipes.
- Choose Connect to iCloud or Check iCloud again. Read the status before continuing.
- Create an empty test kitchen, select it and add one made-up recipe with a non-personal image.
- The owner chooses Invite family… and uses Apple's private sharing controls.
- The invited person accepts the link and selects the joined kitchen in Risoni. Confirm both people see the same test recipe before making more changes.
The owner manages invitations; accepting a share does not make someone the owner. A TestFlight invitation only grants app access—it does not join a kitchen.
What to check together
- Edit the test recipe on one device; look for the change on the other, then repeat in the opposite direction.
- Add a photo, plan a chosen day and serving count, and correct or check a shopping item. Compare both devices.
- Quit and reopen each app. Confirm the selected kitchen and saved changes.
- For an agreed offline test, first open the kitchen online, then make a small test edit offline and reconnect. Compare the result before using real information.
If competing recipe versions appear, review both before choosing. Do not keep saving over a warning. Report a change that disappears or is applied to the wrong kitchen.
If an invitation or connection fails
Read the error, check your connection and use Check iCloud again for an explicit retry. Reopen the original invitation if needed. If Risoni says the account changed or asks for a restart, follow that message rather than editing the old kitchen view.
A fresh app launch while offline may need an online account check before opening an iCloud kitchen. Local kitchen is separate. Do not delete app data or sign out of iCloud merely to troubleshoot a beta problem; report the status first.
